Haryanvi Artist Ankit Balyan Killed in Gun Attack Outside Shamli Gym
Four gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on singer Ankit Balyan as he left a gym in Shamli, sparking protests and a police investigation.

Ankit Balyan, a rising Haryanvi singer known for tracks such as “Court Mein Goli Marenge,” was fatally shot while exiting a fitness centre in the Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred in the early hours of the day when the artist stepped out of the gym and was confronted by four assailants riding two motorcycles. The gunmen unleashed a barrage of fire, reportedly discharging 18 rounds and striking Balyan with five bullets before fleeing the scene.
Local law enforcement arrived quickly, sealing off the surrounding streets and securing the area for forensic examination. Police have retrieved footage from nearby CCTV cameras and are analysing the recordings to identify the attackers and trace the motorcycles. Officials have not disclosed any names or motives, but they have hinted at a possible connection to rival factions in neighbouring Haryana, where Balyan had previously performed.
The shooting ignited immediate public outrage. Residents gathered outside the gym, chanting slogans and demanding swift justice. Demonstrators later blocked a major arterial road in Shamli, halting traffic for several hours and drawing attention to the growing concern over targeted violence against entertainers in the region. Despite the heightened tension, no arrests have been reported, and the investigation remains in its early stages.
Authorities have appealed for witnesses to come forward, emphasizing that any additional information could prove crucial in apprehending those responsible. Meanwhile, fellow musicians and fans have taken to social media to mourn Balyan’s death, sharing tributes and calling for stronger protection for artists who travel frequently for performances.
The case adds to a series of high‑profile attacks on public figures in northern India, prompting calls for a review of security protocols at venues where performers gather. As the police continue to piece together the sequence of events, the community awaits answers and hopes that justice will be served for the slain singer.
