Jharkhand Government Scraps Key Exams Amid Student Protests

The state cabinet of Jharkhand has moved to invalidate a series of examinations that have been administered since 2014 by TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL). Chief Minister Hemant Soren made the announcement on Thursday, citing widespread student protests and concerns over the credibility of the testing process.

The decision comes after a wave of demonstrations across colleges and schools, where students demanded transparency and a review of the exam‑conducting agency’s practices. Protesters argued that the exams, which cover a range of academic and vocational subjects, were riddled with irregularities that could affect future admissions and job opportunities. Meanwhile, the government has set up a task force to audit past TDPL examinations and to ensure that any affected students receive appropriate remedial support.
