BJP minister Smriti Irani has openly dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s recent sit‑in demanding a First Information Report (FIR) as nothing more than theatrical posturing. Speaking with NDTV’s Padmaja Joshi, Irani argued that the Congress leader is using the plight of India’s paramilitary forces as a political prop, sidestepping the fact that official inquiries are already under way.

Irani’s remarks came after Gandhi organized a sit‑in outside the Parliament complex, calling for a formal FIR to be lodged against officials she alleges mishandled cases involving paramilitary personnel. While the opposition framed the protest as a stand for accountability, the BJP’s senior minister countered that the move was timed to attract media attention ahead of upcoming elections.
