Police in Tiruchirappalli conducted a search of the residence of Anbil Mahesh, a minister from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), on Tuesday. According to the report, the Crime Branch had earlier filed a case and detained B.T. Arasakumar, accusing him of extracting roughly ₹100 crore from the managements of several private educational institutions. The search of Mahesh’s house aimed to uncover documents, electronic devices or any other evidence that could substantiate the allegations.

Anbil Mahesh, who represents the Tiruchirappalli constituency in the state assembly, is the son of veteran DMK leader Anbil P. Madhav Raman.
