Iran claims destruction of U.S. surveillance drone in Hormuz Strait

Iran announced on Wednesday that it had brought down an advanced United States drone over the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a claim reported by CNBC. The Iranian military described the aircraft as a "high‑performance" unmanned aerial system operating at a high altitude when it was intercepted by Iranian air defenses.

According to CNBC, Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the drone was destroyed after violating Iranian airspace near the narrow waterway that links the Persian Gulf with the Arabian Sea.
