Karnataka appoints B. Dayananda as new head of Intelligence and Security Division

The Hindu reported that B. Dayananda has been elevated to the rank of Director and assigned as chief of Karnataka’s Intelligence and Security Division (ISD). The promotion, announced by the state Home Department, places Dayananda at the helm of an agency responsible for gathering intelligence, counter‑terrorism operations, and coordination with central security forces.

Dayananda, a veteran police officer with more than two decades of service, previously held the position of Additional Director of the ISD. His career includes stints in law‑enforcement administration, cyber‑crime investigation, and anti‑naxal operations across the state. The official order cites his “exemplary record” and “strategic acumen” as reasons for the appointment.

The ISD, created in the early 2000s, operates under the Karnataka Home Ministry and works closely with the Intelligence Bureau and other central agencies.
